About

. . .

Welcome, friend! I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my site. I’m April. I hope you’ll pour a cup of coffee (or tea, or whatever you like best) and settle in for a while. Let’s get to know one another!

I’m passionate about “after happily-ever-after” stories, about finding joy in suffering, and about the sacred ordinary moments in life that bring us closer to God. I craft historical fiction stories, and I’m currently querying. If you want to follow along on my writing journey, be sure to sign up for my newsletter.

When I’m not reading or writing, I love to hike, do crafts of all kinds (especially knitting), garden, and eat chocolate and black licorice. My favorite people in the world are my husband and three teens (yes, teens can be amazing people).

I’d love to hear from you at any of the social links below. Getting to know new bookish friends is one of my favorite parts of this writing adventure!

Thanks for stopping by,

A little note about AI:

AI is causing ripples in the writing community, so I want to be fully transparent about my position. I do not use AI in any way in planning, outlining, or writing my stories. I’m a firm believer in the integrity of human creativity to craft stories. I do, however, use an AI-integrated software to run an initial critique on my chapters after drafting them. This allows me to get a birds’ eye view of the writing and flag areas that might need improvement, as well as confirming that the themes I’m trying to include come through. I don’t use AI to correct or edit these sections, only to point out areas for improvement. After that, all my beta reading, critiquing, and editing is done by real, flesh-and-blood readers and fellow writers.
